Presence by Doris Trinidad

something happens
to space when you enter
lines bend
planes ripple
angles become kind
when the air holds you
stunned microns whir
collide in startled circuit
alter the lambiency of light

something happens to time
a dropped beat
aeon unretrieved
something somewhat sings
bells, brook, blood
I think all three
there are sunderings
and reconnectings
and flutenotes
in the inner ear
something happens
when a void implodes
by your entering

My favorite poem from Doris Trinidad’s book, Now and Lifetimes Ago
